Compliance glossary for account research

JAN 2026

Key terms used in verified account listings, compliance reviews and platform documentation explained in one place.

AML, CFT and KYC

AML stands for Anti-Money Laundering. CFT is Countering the Financing of Terrorism. KYC is Know Your Customer. These three frameworks are the reason platforms ask for identity documents.

CDD, EDD and PEP

CDD is Customer Due Diligence, the standard identity check. EDD is Enhanced Due Diligence, used for higher-risk users or larger transactions. PEP is a Politically Exposed Person, someone with prominent public influence.

Why the terminology matters

Reading platform policies is easier when you know the acronyms. They describe the checks, risks, and obligations that shape a verified account.
